This annual tea ceremony in Sendai, also known as the city of trees, Miyagi Prefecture is held at Kotodai Park. Anybody can take part in this ceremony without knowledge of tea-serving manners. Thirteen tea ceremony schools perform in the open-air. A ticket for one ceremony is 700 yen and for two is 1200 yen.

You sit on the bench covered with red cloth and relish Japanese sweets that represent the season such as apricot, loquat, sweetfish, etc., and powdered green tea. The host and main guest teach everything you need to know about the tea ceremony.

After the ceremony, the host shows the guests the kit which was selected for the particular ceremony. Some people wear kimono which is considered in advance of the season. It's interesting to appreciate the colors and designs of kimono. That'll be a chance to enjoy Japanese tradition easily and have wonderful experiences.

I visited Sendai in October, alas! I'd like to join that festival.

Love the pictures, it is touching how elegant the tea making process can be out here. I have a ceremony booked in Tokyo for tomorrow and I can't wait for it. It won't be in a setting like this though with the beautiful posture but it will still be a great insight into the wonder of Japanese tea :)
