On October 4th, the Shiroishi Castle grounds came alive with the re-enactment of the battle between the Katakura and Sanada Clans. Popularly known as the "Oni-Kojurō Festival", it is celebrated on the first Saturday in October at Shiroishi Castle. The event kicked off with some ladder acrobatics by the protective forces, and this was followed by some cultural entertainment. There were several stalls with food and souvenirs. Best of all though, you had the opportunity to wear samurai armor for the evening. This year, the cosplayers outdid themselves as they were simply fabulous! For a moment I thought they came directly out of the Sengoku Basara anime!

Hmmm.... maybe next year the ninjas could have their say with respect to the ninja tourism?!
@Sabita thank you :) But there is so much more that you need to experience for yourself!
@Mei_Fei you would have loved the costumes and the re-enactment of the battle!

Wow! The next best thing to being there...getting to see the show through the eyes of the photographer.
