JR Funaoka Station, and the next stop on the line, JR Ogawara Station, are starting poinst to explore the beautiful 1,000 Cherry Trees at a Glance on the Shiroishi River bank. Big Sakura Festivals are held between these two stations, and many people get together to enjoy a beautiful scenery stretching alongside the Shiroishi River. The riverbank is just a stone's throw away from this charming station, and there is even a nice, cozy cafe on the way to the riverbank where you can take a break before/after enjoying a leisurely walk to admire gorgeous cherry blossoms. It's only 30 minutes train ride from Sendai and an hour from Fukushima.
