The Uji River is often associated with the Japanese novel "The Tale of Genji". This beautiful river was the setting for the famous Japanese novel. I lived in Kyoto for a year and a half, but wasn't able to see Uji city. This summer I finally got the chance and wasn't disappointed. Definitely a must see place specially during cherry blossom and autumn season.
