This attractive shrine in Yamashina is dedicated to Ōishi Kuranosuke Yoshio, leader of the famous 47 Ronin. Most interesting was the small museum containing many documents and illustrations related to the 47 Ronin story. The shrine is set at the foot of the hills between Yamashina and Fushimi, and is surrounded by lush vegetation. I visited in June, which is Japan's rainy season, and needed to take shelter in the museum during a sudden downpour.
