Part of the Nanzen-ji Temple complex, Konchi-in Temple and its Tsuru-Kame Garden (Crane-Turtle Garden) feels like a secret little hideaway from the hustle and bustle of Kyoto on a busy day. Many people walk by and look in through the temple's fence, but few come in to enjoy the quietude and tranquility. The walk from the Main Gate to the sand garden follows a meandering path that is about 100 meters long. Stop along the way and enjoy the delights that only space of this kind can provide. And then there is the Zen-ness of the sand garden to meditate on as well.
