Toei Eigamura (Toei Studio Park)

The awesomest place for all

Toei Uzumasa Eigamura or Toei Kyoto Studio Park is a must visit place for any Japanese film enthusiast. You can go there and spend the whole day there! It is a theme park where you can observe the filming of period dramas. You can walk freely in the studio film set with your own clothes or with the renting the historical costumes (clothes, hair make up and all that jazz), and enjoy being part of the historical film set even more. You may even have a chance to see movie being filmed (presumably from a far without disturbing their work)

Around 200 Japanese period films have been produced here. The studio is set in Edo period (imagine, Samurai and Shogun) and Showa period (WWII and aftermath), and you can enjoy the experience of walking along with Samurai through the movie sets, seeing Ninja show, Samurai sword fighting show and performance in Nagamuraza theatre. It is suitable for the young and the young at heart. You can test your courage in the haunted house, relax at the retro cafe and have a photo sessions with actors and characters from the shows. For Japanese film lovers, there is an exhibition introducing Japanese film history, e.g. work of - film makers​ like Kenji Mizoguchi.

If you are an Anime enthusiast, you cannot go to Kyoto without visiting Uzumasa Eigamura! Why? Because here is the Toei Anime Museum. If you love Super Sentai, Carmen Raiders, Dragon Ball and many other anime from Japan. You must visit this place. There is a display of original pictures, animation cells, promotional goods, and life size models of the characters you love. According to their official website, you can also learn about trace drawing and voiceover work hands-on!

**Entrance closes 60 minutes prior to closing of park.

***The park will be closed for maintenance from January 16, 2015 to January 20, 2015.

How to go there:

Train: From Kyoto Station take JR Sagano Line to Uzumasa Station or Hanazano Station (Remember the Key word: Uzumasa Eigamura) and walk for another 13-15 minutes

City Bus: No.75 from JR Kyoto Station to Uzumasa Eigamura Mae and No.11 from Sanjo Keihan to Uzumasa Eigamuramichi
