What was life like in the time of the pharaohs? A new exhibition in Yokohama’s Minato Mirai invites visitors to step inside ancient Egypt and explore the legacy of one of its most famous rulers: King Tutankhamun.

This interactive exhibition is running until late December and brings ancient history to life with more than 130 life-sized “super replicas,” a full-scale recreation of Tutankhamun’s tomb, and advanced digital technology. From holograms of the golden mask to 3D scans of real artifacts, visitors can explore the world of ancient Egypt in vivid detail.

Curated by leading Egyptologist Yukinori Kawae, the experience combines immersive visuals, expert commentary, and original music to create an educational and atmospheric journey. It's a rare opportunity to get up close to recreations of treasures usually kept behind glass or halfway across the world.

On May 6th, the museum will also host a special pet-friendly event, Tutan’Nya’men Day. Visitors are welcome to bring their pets into the museum, take photos with ancient Egyptian sets (an additional fee applies), and browse themed goods. Pet costumes inspired by figures like Bastet and Anubis will be available for rent, making for a fun and memorable visit.

Ticketing Information: Admission to the event is priced at 2600 JPY for adults (counted as university students and above), 2000 JPY for junior and senior high school students, 1500 JPY for elementary school students, and free for those under school age.
