If you listed Yokohama City on your itinerary, or if you live here, I suggest you visit the Yokohama Doll Museum. It is just a few minutes walk from the famous Yamashita Park and Marine Tower. This museum is not just for kids. Visiting this place gives you a feeling of connection to the world by viewing the dolls on exhibition, including thousands of dolls representing different countries, cultures, religion and stories. They are all made from different materials as well, which makes each doll unique.

Realistic looking baby dolls remind me of my childhood

Kokeshi folk dolls originally from Northern Japan are carved from wood. This makes a good souvenir item

"Little Women" dolls from the story book of the same title. They are made of plastic

THis Santo Nino or Baby Jesus wax doll is one of my favorites because of its realistic looking features

Traditional Japanese doll in kimono is a must in every Japanese home

Automate dolls or self-moving dolls from France are very interesting because of their uniqueness. Some have a built-in music box

A classroom of dolls "studying" their lessons

Ever wonder who the original "Queen Elsa" was? This is the original Snow Queen painting exhibited at the entrance of this museum
