The Great Buddha of Kamakura (Kamakura Daibutsu 鎌倉大仏) was built in the mid 13th Century at Kotoku-in Temple. It was originally housed in a building, but has been under the sky for 500 years after a few natural disasters. I often come and visit to have a conversation with Daibutsu in my heart. Daibutsu is always calm, dignified, and peaceful and shows me a positive future. Daibutsu has been a symbol and anchor for people in Kamakura, and now is loved worldwide.
Access: A 5-minute walk from Hase Station on the Enoden Line, or just in front of the Daibutsu-mae Bus Stop.
