If you are wondering where and how to get that perfect photo of Mt. Fuji during your visit to Japan, this is the place to go. A stroll along the beach in Kamakura (heading to the left while facing the water) in the winter is almost a guarantee "got it" moment! The sky in winter is usually clear as a bell, and is almost the only season you can expect to see Japan's most famous and beautiful mountain just about every day. And if you plan it just right so that you are there for the sunset, the sky is often quite colorful and beautiful. Add to that a surfer or windsurfer or two, Enoshima in the background, and you are sure to go home completely satisfied!

Mt. Fuji and Kamakura in December
The best time of the year to capture perfection

Community writer

A lonely surfer about to call it a day, Mt. Fuji, and a beautiful sunset

Start at Hase Beach, after a trip to Hase Temple and Daibutsu

Have your camera ready if surfers are out enjoying the waves

Or enjoy a view of the beach from one of the cafes across the street

Once you hit the beach again, start walking to the left...

And this is what you can expect to find

That is Enoshima on the far left

Imagine surfing here everyday?!

Enjoy the sunset and get that perfect shot!
