Although not much to look at from the outside, Laforet Club Hakone Gora Yunosumika has been newly remodeled in a lovely modern Japanese style. The hotel is very quiet, even when it is full of guests. If you visit, be sure to book one of the spacious rooms that have their own wonderful private onsen baths. The meals are really something special. Dinner is a fusion of European & Japanese cuisines, while breakfast consists of a tasty buffet of Japanese items. Since Gora is in a central location of Hakone, this hotel is a perfect choice for visitors to the area.

Great hotel decorated in a lovely 'Wa-modern' style

One of the gorgeous and delicious courses served at dinner.
The simple exterior of the hotel is not representative of the inviting modern Japanese design inside.
The front desk. They are very strict about check-in time, so don't bother arriving early as you will only have to sit and wait in the lounge.
The lounge, complete with fireplace and comfy sofas, is a really nice place to relax and/or meet other guests.
Our room was spacious, and the beds were firm, but very comfortable.
This tatami area was part of the new 'Wa-modern' design.
One of the best features of this hotel - rooms with private onsen baths.
Meals are served at regular tables in this dining room overlooking surrounding greenery.
Guests can see some of the delicious dishes being prepared in this open kitchen.
Foods served in the dinner course are seasonal and always changing.
Our main entree was incredible - the Japanese steak melted in our mouths.
Gora Park, and the Hakone Museum of Art, are just a short walk from the hotel.

The prawn dish has interesting colors. I've never seen prawn breaded that way before.
