If you visit Kamakura (and you should!) be sure that you do not miss seeing the famous Daibutsu - or Great Buddha - statue at Kotoku-in Temple. So much has been written about it, but unless you see it with your own eyes it will be impossible to understand what all the fuss is about. Daibutsu is big, but not huge. There are other statues bigger, but none this impressive that you can get so close to. Look at the statue from every angle. Sit and meditate observing his face. What do you see? I see dignity and compassion, as well as intelligence and strength. Take a look yourself, and tell me what you find!
