Yokohama Stadium is located at Yokohama Park, just a kitty-corner away from JR Kannai Station (Kehin Tohoku/Negishi Line). In 1876, when it was established, Yokohama Park was in the middle of what was called "Japanese Town" and the "Foreign Settlement". And interestingly, the very first international baseball game (a Japanese student team vs. a team of foreigners) took place here.
Although not so many people know it, there is a very nice Japanese garden in the corner of this park.
Government offices, restaurants, bars, and many shops surround this small garden, but a nice grove of trees shuts out all the noise. When you step into the garden, you feel completely relaxed with the sound of birds and water. Especially in autumn, the garden shows us its best beauty. I think it’s a great place to feel Japanese autumn in the city of Yokohama.
