Fujisawa is a short train ride from Enoshima Island. To get there you can use the Enoden or Odakyu Railway to Katase-Enoshima Station. The Enoden Line also takes you to Hase with its wonderful Hasedera Temple, Kamakura Daibutsu and many other beautifully historic temples and shrines. Accommodation can sometimes be pricey in both Kamakura and Enoshima which makes Fujisawa a good accommodation choice for budget travellers.
The Hotel Almont Inn Shonan Fujisawa is only a few minutes walk from Fujisawa Station and is quite easy to find. In the lobby there is a 24-hour front desk and some very hospitable staff. I arrived much earlier than the standard check-in time and there was no issue with my luggage being accepted into storage until the evening. The beautiful fresh flowers and cute canine character greeting guests in the lobby was a nice touch.
This kind of a hotel is quite typical for Japan and convenient for travellers. Each room has a private bathroom with free toiletries, towels, a fan, a Japanese-style bath robe and slippers. Toiletries include not only shampoo and body soap, but also a toothbrush and tiny tube of toothpaste, a comb, a razor and a shower cap. Very convenient and helpful, especially if you have forgotten something.
In each room you’ll find an electric kettle and decent quality bags of Japanese green tea. There is also a capsule coffee machine in each room as well as a refrigerator, a flat-screen TV set, air conditioner and free Wi-Fi.
Hotel Almont Inn Shonan Fujisawa has a restaurant, with breakfast or dinner options available. I should also mention that the hotel is non-smoking making it a modern, clean and comfortable accommodation option for anyone staying in Fujisawa.
