Shabu Shabu is one of those "must try" foods to add to your list when you visit Japan. Dip pieces of thinly sliced beef into boiling water, and then dip the beef into sauce. Sublime! Include a salad bar, drink bar, dessert bar, and a great selection of Japanese sake and you're all set; what more could you ask for?! Don-Tei, located in the Honmoku area of Yokohama, is a bit out of the way, but worth the trip. Only a quick taxi ride from Yamate Station, and a 10-minute walk from beautiful Sankei-en Gardens.

It's located in a beatiful part of Yokohama, quite close to the lovely Sankei-en Gardens

There are a variety of sauces to choose from--I like the goma (seseme) best

Try this set of four sakes for a great tasting experience, and a perfect complement to the meat

Don-Tei is part of the Yoshinoya Group of restaurants, specializing in meat dishes

The interior of Don-Tei is a comfortable light wood

Don-Tei, a great shabu shabu restaurant located in Honmuku, Yokohama

Thinly sliced beef, leek onions, and other vegetables are dipped in boiling water

Don-Tei is just a 10-minute walk from lovely Sankei-en Gardens
