If you are in Kamakura, I highly recommend a walk down to the beach no matter what season it is. There is plenty to enjoy, including beach combing, watching the surfers and wind-surfers, beautiful sunsets, and lots of sand. Facing the water, you have (from left to right) Zaimoku-za Beach, Yuigahama Beach, and Hase Beach. Each has its own particular charms, and each beach is within walking distance of famous temples, great restaurants and everything else wonderful that Kamakura has to offer.

A Day at the Beach in Kamakura
Enjoy nature up close just 10 minutes from JR station

Community writer

Some people sail...

...and some people fish

Wind surfing is popular at Zaimokuza beach

A lot of people come down to the beach to enjoy the sunset

There is a lot of fishing nets, boats and gear on the beach

Relax with a stroll along the shoreline

Taking care of their windsurfing gear at the end of the day

It is a very long beach, shaped like a horseshoe

Lots of surfers, but not too many big waves

Sit and rest your feet for a few minutes

Everyone doing their own thing
