Ichijo-Ji temple is the oldest temple in Japan. One of the 33 temples in the Kansai area and the 26th temple of the Saigoku Kannon Pilgrimage. It was established by the Emperor Kutoku's instruction in 650. The 843-year old pagoda was completed in 1171 and is a National treasure of Japan. Natural stones are used for the basic stones and built pillars on them under the Hondo hall. Taking a look carefully, the ground near the walls are risen. If you want to see and experience the stellar culture and history of Japan. Ichijo-Ji temple is located 821-17, Sakamoto, Kasai, Hyogo and about 35 minutes away from Himeji Bus center.
