Utoro is a pleasant little town on the western coast of the Shiretoko Pensinsula and serves as the main gateway if you want to explore this beautifully wild and remote area. We stayed here for 2 nights to explore the Shiretoko Five Lakes (Shiretoko Goko) and to take a boat trip to marvel at the stunning coastline. One evening we went for a short walk up Oronko Rock and were rewarded with wonderful views.
