Mount Kuro (Kuro-dake 1,984m) in Daisetsuzan National Park in Hokkaido is one of Japan's famous 100 mountains and a prime spot for autumn colour viewing. The colours usually start to come out in the middle of September. This year, however, as we had a very long and warm summer, the colours kicked in a bit later. I didn't mind, as it was truly spectacular as is!

From the top of Mount Kuro...
... the view across the various peaks in the National Park are just awesome
Amazing clouds—a photographer's delight
More red and green, the grey stones make for a nice contrast
And if you are lucky you'll also see the Hokkaido chipmunk
