Sinful indulgence or not, chocolates are a friend for every mood. The Ishiya Chocolate Factory in Sapporo brings the choco-magic to life just the right way. Their famous Shiroi Koibito (White Lovers) Cookies are made with delicious white chocolate sandwiched in between two delicately soft butter cookies and they make for a wonderful - maybe the best - souvenir from Sapporo. Instead of buying them from its many outlets, we decided to check these out at their place of origin.

Sapporo's Shiroi Koibito Park
A chocolate paradise!

Community writer

A short walk from the Miyanosawa station (Tozai Line) and we are thrilled to find rows of these cute snowmen welcoming us!

The first thing inside are these beautiful cute little 'furnished' houses in yellow, pink and blues. We could easily slide inside and take a snap or two of the tiny beds, tables and chairs. For children it definitely makes for a favorite hide-out.

The big and beautiful 'Aurora' fountain inside the factory museum.

One of the many elaborately decorated pieces of porcelain art in the gallery.

Our co-spectators equally thrilled to watch the various steps of chocolate making in progress.

Meticulous inspection of the Shiroi Koibito white cream roll cakes

White Tiramisu,Chocolate ganache and Hot chocolate makes for our special lunch at the Chocolate Lounge

An exquisite piece of sugar art on display

"I’m for keeps" says this pretty sugar doll.

Now that’s called a family! One of the many amazing collections at the toy section of the factory.

The Beatles are here too!

So many candies and chocolates are on sale. The snow-covered park outside provides for many such amusements on the way out.
