Press Cafe is a lovely retro-style cafe and restaurant away from the main shopping streets of Otaru. Located on the northern side of the canal opposite to the tourist attractions, the setting is far quieter and a relaxing space to spend some time enjoying coffee or a light meal. The decor reflects the owner's personal tastes and includes two vintage automobiles, one outside and one inside the cafe. Both are listed for sale on the menu. The menu consists of tasty Japanese pastas and curry rice plates, as well as a variety of cakes and coffee drinks. The menus are written in English as well as Japanese. Smaller portions are available combined with salad in a set and prices are reasonable for the quality. The staff are welcoming and gracious. The restaurant is open for lunch and dinner everyday except for Thursday. For a break from the crowds and traditional sights of Otaru, take a walk and head over to Press Cafe.

Good coffee here. It's in a nice classic building along a walking tour of the north canal. Enjoyed it!
