Rebun Island is part of Rishiri-Rebun-Sarobetsu National Park at the most northern tip of Hokkaido. It is very different from its neighbor Rishiri Island and mostly visited for the great variety of alpine flowers, which usually can be found only at about 2,000m above sea level. I personally was even more impressed by the beautifully rough but green coastline with its stunning cliffs and the rolling hills covered with bamboo grass inland—simply breathtaking.

I'd love to hike the trail there while the wildflowers are blooming. And what views!
It is absolutely stunning indeed. We were also very lucky with the weather, although the wind was pretty nasty even in June. Very short summer over there, but beautiful!

I saw some houses in one of the photos; are there residents on the island?
Hi Jeremy, yes sure, it is a nice little island community. We stayed at the Nature Inn Hanashin; there is also an article about it.
