Sapporo is a beautiful city to visit at any time of year and there are a lot of accommodation options so it can be hard to choose the right option for you. Khaosan is one of the larger hostel companies in Japan and the Sapporo location is just as good as all the others.
The hostel offers a really good range of rooms that will suit everyone. Dorm rooms are not crowded with each one accommodating only 4 people in mixed or female-only rooms. The rooms have a bit of a Japanese twist as they have both bunks and futon mattresses on the tatami mat floor. There are also many private rooms at the hostel many of which have ensuite bathrooms. All of the rooms are Japanese style with tatami mats and futon beds although some also have a bunk to accommodate more people. Rooms are available in single, double and twin rooms but they can also sometimes accommodate up to 6 beds. Private rooms also have a small sitting area with a table and cushions which is a great place to relax after a day of exploring.
There is a large common area on the ground floor which has a large common kitchen with stovetops, refrigerators, microwave, and a toaster oven. You can also watch some TV in the lounge area whilst relaxing in the bean bags. If you don't have your own device you can use the free computers, otherwise, there is free Wi-Fi available throughout the whole hostel.
Khaosan Sapporo Family Hostel has a really great location to access everything in Sapporo. The hostel is just a 5 min walk from Susukino, which is Sapporo's entertainment district and has a great selection of restaurants, bars, and clubs. The famous Ramen Alley is also nearby and this is a great place to try Sapporo's version of ramen with butter and corn. Other Sapporo attractions like the TV Tower, Odori Park, and the Former Hokkaido Government Building are also within easy walking distance. For anything further away the closest subway station is in Susukino or you can head to the JR Sapporo Station where you can catch trains or buses to the rest of Sapporo and Hokkaido. If you are coming from the New Chitose Airport to Sapporo I would recommend the Airport Bus as it will drop you off closer to the hostel, at a hotel about 10 mins walk away which is a little less hassle than on the train but takes a little bit longer.
Khaosan Sapporo Family Hostel is a great budget option and has been one of the cheapest accommodation options during our trip but doesn't compromise on anything for that price. If you want to experience a Japanese-style room whilst also having the opportunity to meet other travelers then this is the perfect place to stay in Sapporo.
