A special exhibition taking place at the Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art looks at a range of artworks that depict cats from the collection of Maneki Neko-tei. This mysterious collector has been amassing pieces for around 40 years, and there will be Japanese paintings, ukiyo-e prints, sculptures, and ceramics on display. Some of the artists featured include Utagawa Kuniyoshi, Yumeji Takehisa, Leonard Fujita, and Ryusei Kishida to name just a handful.
Whether you're a fan of all things feline or not, the exhibition offers an interesting historical insight into how cats have inspired a wealth of art in various genres.
Adult admission to the event is priced at 1300 yen.
