For the past four years I have had the privilege of calling Yubiso home. This sleepy village on the edge of Minakami is the gateway to adventure any time of the year. In winter it occupies a key spot in the decision of every skier and snowboader that comes to the area. Continue straight through on the way to Tenjindiara skijo and fantastic back country snow, or turn right and head to the many other ski resorts further up the valley, In the spring the mighty Tone-gawa, second longest river in japan, hosts class three and four rapids. Summer ushers in the canyoning season, as tourists escape from the heat. Finally, fall sees the fantastic changing of colors, and with it the multitudes of hikers..

I like how the journalist here referred to Yubiso as "home," making the location much more personable. A few of the photos have a main subject, such as the two pictures with the monkey and the first of a character made of snow. This helped me relate even better to the Yubiso, making me feel as if I am following a storyline. The last few photos of the series is clearly more objective but gives a wider perspective; in my personal opinion, I wish the images were a little bit sharper. However, the photos' sharpness is not particularly distracting. The fact that the photographer also added pictures from different seasons makes the photo story more complete in an emotional way.
