Gujo Odori 2025

Thirty-two festive nights of dancing

Venue
Gujo Hachiman
When
Jul 12th - Sep 6th 2025

The Gujo dance festival started over 400 years ago and now it's known as one of the largest summer dance festivals in Japan.

The festival is held for a period of thirty-two nights from mid-July to the beginning of September. During the four days of Obon (an August festival commemorating one's ancestor), locals and tourists, regardless of skills, dance together in a big circle through the night until the morning.

Sorry for the question but will there be food stalls like any other festival? Stalls selling yakisoba or kakigori and others?

Hi Baron! Yes, there will be food stalls. I'm not sure exactly what they will be selling, but at the least, it looks like there will be salt-grilled sweetfish (ayu). There is a good chance there will be yakisoba too, but I can't confirm it.
