Flying fish are known as ago in the Kyushu region of Japan, and the Ago Festival in Fukuoka is a two-day event where attendees can appreciate this marine creature in various ways. From taste-testing grilled ago to exploring the fish up close in a touching pool, the event is intended to be enjoyed by the whole family.
If you're not really a seafood fan, never fear – there will be other food booths at the event, selling everything from fried chicken to mitarashi (sweet soy sauce glaze) ice cream.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the atmosphere of the event, but bring yen if you plan on making food or drink purchases.
