I'm a big fan of wisteria. Ever since May came I kept looking for places in Fukui where I could see them. However, when I searched on the Internet I couldn't find any places famous for these flowers. One day, when I was trying to decide where to explore, the word '200-meter wisteria corridor' hit my eyes. The homepage of Murasaki Shikibu Park writes ever so unceremoniously that there is one in the park. A 200-meter-long wisteria corridor should make the park famous for it, but it's generally unknown even to the local people. I rushed to the park of course but sadly the peak was over and only a small part of the corridor was decorated by pretty flowers about to fall to the ground. I should come back again next year for sure!

Walk through a long tunnel looking up at lovely flowers

Wisteria flowers looking like purple curtains
Last blossoms of white wisteria
This is the entrance of 200-meter-long wisteria corridor in Murasaki Shikibu Park. Unfortunately most blossoms had already fallen to the ground when I visited.
However, there were some blossoms still dangling from the trellis
I found some here, too!
They were just before falling to the ground and enjoying the last moments of their short lives.
Midway in a 200-meter-long corridor, I found the section with many flowers!
Oh, how pretty!
Radiant with late afternoon sunlight
Dream-like wisteria ceiling shining with sunlight from above
I want to sleep in a bed with a ceiling like this...it must feel so good!
A wisteria corridor surrounds the vast open space inside the park
Fallen petals of wisteria...they changed color from light purple to deep blue
Shriveled wisteria flowers about to fall. Sadly wisteria season is now over.
