Tokyo International Fire & Disaster Prevention Exhibition 2023

Explore Japan's approaches to dealing with disasters

When
Jun 15th - Jun 18th 2023

Japan is prone to natural disasters due to its geographic location along the Pacific Ring of Fire, where tectonic plates converge and result in the likes of earthquakes, volcanic eruptions, and tsunamis. These vulnerabilities have prompted advanced disaster preparedness measures, technological innovations, and a resilient mindset to mitigate their impact.

The Tokyo International Fire and Disaster Prevention Exhibition is a large-scale event which showcases some of the country's approaches to dealing with disasters, and it's held once every five years.

Attendees can check out the latest firefighting vehicles owned by the Tokyo Fire Department, watch firefighting and rescue performances by the US Navy fire brigade, and plenty more. There are even children's experience areas where little ones can experience "firefighting" for themselves.
