If you take the ropeway up to Matsuyama Castle, you may never know of this scenic gem, tucked away in a corner of the grounds on the opposite side of the hill. Once the location of the local lord's living quarters, the property has been relandscaped with water features and flowering plants for every season. In the rear of the garden, a traditional teahouse and small waterfall make for a lovely escape. You can often find newlyweds posing for photos on the grounds and the place is perfect for a romantic stroll.

The pools of water in the more modern section of the Ninomaru Garden

The pools actually trace the outlines of the fortifications of the lord's old living quarters

Cherry trees in bloom in the garden

Stepping stones lead across the stream

A teahouse sits in the back of the property

A stream runs along the forest's edge
