Cape Suwazaki is a beautiful peninsula that juts out into the Uwa Sea near Yawatahama. With forest paths, abundant wildlife, spectacular views, and places to swim in the sea, it’s a great place to unwind. It also has its own little campsite with simple but adequate facilities. It’s conveniently close to Yawatahama ferry terminal with sea links to Kyushu.

The geology of Cape Suwazaki is fascinating. The volcanic rocks look like wood.

This is the sign to look for on Route 250. You can drive along the cape to the carpark from here.

There are several paths down to the sea, and in the warmer weather, you can swim and snorkel here. The ferries to Kyushu pass frequently.

The sign says "Beware of mamushi". These are poisonous snakes that are around in the warmer months. Mind where you put your feet.

There are things to see at any time of year.

The sign to the campsite. It's on the highest point of the peninsula, and it has basic but adequate facilities.

Toilets and running water in the little campsite. This is a great spot for independent travellers, especially cyclists.
