During the month of July, Chiba's Sakura Furusato Square will host a Windmill Sunflower Garden event. Approximately 15,000 sunflowers will be in full bloom during the event dates, including the Vincent sunflower variety named after none other than the Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh.
Admission to the event itself is free, but bring some coins if you want to pick some sunflowers -- it'll set you back 100 yen for 2 flowers from the picking area.
Sakura Furusato Square is located 30 minutes on foot from Keisei Usui Station, or 40 minutes on foot from Keisei-Sakura Station. Bicycles are also available for rent from both stations if you'd prefer not to walk (500 yen/day for regular bicycles, 1000 yen/day for electronic assist bicycles), or there is a community bus from the north exit of Keisei-Sakura Station - the ride time is about 10 minutes.
For those who opt to drive, the venue is around 30 minutes from the Sakura IC on the Higashi Kanto Expressway.
