Running for half a century as of 2024, the Tokiwadaira Sakura Festival takes place along a two-kilometer stretch of Tokiwadaira Sakura Street, creating a beautiful pedestrian paradise for blossom lovers. The street was named as one of Japan's Top 100 roads back in 1987 owing to the vast number of Yoshino cherry trees and Oshima cherry trees planted along the route.
Along with the blossoms to appreciate, the event includes plenty of additional fun–there will be various market stalls, mikoshi (portable shrine) parades, traditional taiko drumming and dance performances, and plenty more.
There is no admission fee to enjoy the blossoms and the fun, festive atmosphere, but do bring yen if you plan on making purchases at the stalls.
