The best part of the winter along the eastern coast of Chiba Prefecture is the earth is still green and not covered with snow. With little to no snow, unlike Hokkaido or Nagano, there is plenty signs of life during the winter. Here I captured some of the bright winter foliage and scenes that can be seen during the mild winter in Japan. All photos are taken in Sosa City, Chiba, where the temperature rarely drops under 0 degrees celsius.

Snowless Winter On The Coast
Plenty of greens, purples, pinks in mild Chiba winter

Community writer

Vibrant winter cabbage colors brighten up the winter.

Perhaps a dog went for a walk on a cold day -- we can see its footprints because there is no snow on the ground!

With no snow, flowers bloom in January.

Blue skies grace the landscape.

Winter cabbage is really common and comes in purple and white.

Temperatures stay mild.

We can still keep our plants outside in January!

The mild winter allows for many different kinds of plants.
