Chiba prefecture is not just about Tokyo Disneyland. Travel further down south and you can visit the mother of all farms, Mother Farm :) No doubt, you will be surrounded by families with kids but I'll encourage you to give Mother Farm a chance. Well, I went with my friend and I was glad we did. This farm was simply charming, offering more than just opportunities to mingle with the farm animals. Well, that's the place I had my virgin bungee jump, in the farm!
Take a train down to Kimitsu Station and enjoy the journey to Mother Farm via the free shuttle bus service. If you have time to spare, walk around the area and you will find some cheap and good restaurants. Alternatively, save your stomach for a good barbeque session and soft serve ice cream at Mother Farm.
Enter the farm and immediately you will be greeted by the fresh air, the greenery and the welcoming sound from the animals. Take a slow stroll and explore the different sections of the farm. Pay a visit to each pit stop, enjoy your interactions with the animals and nature, and remember to catch the farm shows at the designated times. For the creative and hands-on people, visit the various Do-It-Yourself stations and get your hands dirty.
If you are tired, drop by the soft-serve ice cream stall or the mouth-watering restaurants to recharge your energy. You can also take a ride on the ferris wheel or the inbound bus and experience another view of the farm. For the daredevils, carry your courage and head to the bungee jump station! Yes, you heard me right, a bungee jump station right in the middle of a farm. I tried it and had a good time screaming my lungs out.
It is more than just a farm.
Getting there
There are regular direct buses from Kimitsu station and Sanukimachi station on the JR Uchibo line, and one bus a day from Hama Kanaya station, also on the JR Uchibo line.
