Held each year from July 31st until August 4th, the Hachinohe Sansha Taisai is an event that has been awarded as one of Japan's Important Intangible Folk Cultural Properties. With a history of over 300 years, this summer event is one not to miss if you're in the area.
The festival has a few different elements, including a mikoshi (portable shrine) procession, over two dozen ornate floats made by local citizens, and a tiger dance display.
The schedule of events differs on each day of the festival, so be sure to check the official website to ensure you don't miss what you want to see.
