Held each year from July 31st until August 4th, the Hachinohe Sansha Taisai is an event that has been awarded as one of Japan's Important Intangible Folk Cultural Properties. With a history of over 300 years, this summer event is one not to miss if you're in the area.
The festival has a few different elements, including a mikoshi (portable shrine) procession, over two dozen ornate floats made by local citizens, and a tiger dance display.
