Lake Tazawa is a breathtaking lake in Akita, Tohoku. What sets this apart from most others is that in addition to being the deepest lake in Japan, Lake Tazawa also has bright, almost luminous water. You can take a boat cruise around the lake, checking out the shrines and little towns around the it. It also stops at the famous golden statue of Tatsuko.
